What Equipment Is Needed for a Tin Can Production Line?

What Equipment Is Needed for a Tin Can Production Line?

If you're planning a new factory or upgrading an existing one, the first question is usually simple: what tin can production line equipment do I actually need? The honest answer is that a line has two layers. There are the main machines that form the can, and the auxiliary equipment that feeds, cures, moves, and packs it. This guide covers the second layer, where a surprising amount of your uptime is decided.

Main Machines vs. Auxiliary Equipment

The core of any tin can making machinery line includes the shearing machine, welder, combination machine, leak tester, necking machine, and flanger. At Hubei Baoli Technology, we don't build those, and we'd rather say so upfront. What we build is everything around them, and we put our full effort into making that equipment as reliable as it can be.

Think of it this way: the main machines shape the can, but auxiliary equipment keeps material flowing in and finished cans flowing out. When auxiliary equipment is weak, even the best welder sits idle.

Auxiliary Equipment You Need, Station by Station

1. Body Blank Sheet Feeding Machine
Everything starts with flat tin-plate blanks. This machine separates and feeds sheets into the line at a steady rhythm, avoiding double-feeds and scratches on the coating. Consistent feeding is the foundation of stable downstream welding.

2. Curing Oven
After coating or printing, blanks and bodies pass through a curing oven. Even temperature distribution matters here, because it affects coating adhesion and the can's long-term quality. Efficient heating design also reduces energy consumption noticeably over years of operation.

3. Can Conveyor System
Conveyors connect every station. A good system does more than transport cans. It buffers, accumulates, and smooths speed differences between machines so one slowdown doesn't stop the whole line.

4. Can Upender
Cans often exit forming stages lying on their side or in the wrong orientation. A can upender turns them upright gently and reliably before the next stage, without dents or jams.

5. Cooling Conveyor
Cans leaving heat-related processes need to cool before packing. A cooling conveyor gives them stable, controlled time to do so, protecting coatings and preventing condensation problems in packaging.

6. Can Lid Feeding Machine
Lids and ends must arrive in sync with bodies. A can lid feeding machine keeps this supply steady and orderly, which is a small detail with a big effect on seaming performance.

7. Palletizer, Depalletizer, Strapping and Wrapping Machines
The end of the line is where output becomes shipment.

Together they turn loose cans into a shipment-ready pallet with minimal manual handling.

Why Overseas Buyers May Not Know Us Yet

Our equipment has shipped to more than 20 countries, yet our name is rarely seen abroad. The reason is simple: we've spent our time on design, R&D and manufacturing rather than promotion.

Many well-known Chinese can-making machine builders and trading companies have bought our auxiliary equipment for years, then combined it with their main machines into complete lines for overseas customers. So most of our exports went out under other names. Our engineers, however, are the ones who travel abroad for installation and commissioning. A few overseas customers found us directly, and they became loyal repeat buyers. We are fully able to accept export orders ourselves.

FAQ

What equipment is needed for a tin can production line?
Main machines (shearing, welding, combination, leak testing, necking, flanging) plus auxiliary equipment: sheet feeding, curing oven, conveyors, upender, cooling conveyor, lid feeder, palletizer, depalletizer, strapping and wrapping machines.

Do you supply a complete tin can production line?
No. We supply the auxiliary equipment listed above. Main machines come from other specialist builders, and we can integrate smoothly with them.

How fast can your equipment run?
Our lines reach up to 600 cpm, depending on configuration and can size.

Can you work with my existing line?
Yes. Our equipment is designed to match your layout, can dimensions and speed.

Do you provide overseas installation?
Yes. Our own engineers handle on-site installation, commissioning and after-sales support.
